The “You’re It, Again” beta update fixes a preference bug that was introduced
in yesterday's 2.0b48 “You're It” update that could cause certain section-specific
preferences to be incorrect (e.g. widgets could display the incorrect number of links). All other features and fixes are the same as the previous version 2.0b48, as described below.
The 2.0b48 and b49 beta updates brings tagging to Big Medium. Tags are
browsable keywords that you add to your pages to help site visitors
find other pages on similar topics.
For details about tags, see “What About Tags” in Chapter 7, “Sections and Content Categories,” of the freshly revised Big Medium 2 book.
Not only do tags make content more findable within your site, they
also help spread the word in the wider web. Tags are included
as metadata in your site’s RSS feeds, and tag-savvy search engines
can use the info to include your pages in tag search results.
Speaking of search engines, this update also adds
search-engine sitemaps
to Big Medium. These sitemaps are generated automatically behind the scenes,
feeding search engines with links to every page of your site.
Plus: Several updates and bug fixes, listed below.

The nitty gritty
Here’s what’s new in this update:
Features and changes
Tags let you add browsable keywords to your pages, making it easy for
visitors to find other pages with similar content.
Tags can be displayed with the <%tags%> or <%tagcloud%> widgets,
or appended to the <%content%> widget.
A search-engine sitemap is generated
automatically, feeding search engines the links to every page of your site.
Links to the sitemap can be added to your pages via <%sitemap%>
(this link is invisible to human eyes, but remains visible to search
engines).
News feeds include additional metadata, including author name, related
links and tags.
Default templates updated to include the new <%sitemap%> widget; the
utility template (previously the “overflow” template) now includes
the <%breadcrumbs%> widget.
Default link style for new sites changed to “headline,” “line break”,
“description.”
Candara is Big Medium’s new default font for Windows Vista browsers.
The maintenance script cleans up leftover files from batch-upload
activities. These leftovers can accumulate, for example, when there are
problems processing the batch-uploaded files.
When displaying enlarged images that are not part of a gallery slideshow,
it’s now possible to right-click on the image (e.g., to save the image).
Added an explanatory note on the “File Upload Limits” screen to explain
that the “maximum file size” field sets the systemwide limit, but that
individual sites each have their own file-size preference.
