The “Status Symbol” beta update fixes a bug in Big Medium’s new “change status” feature, along with bugs in Big Medium’s site importer and directory builder. Specifically, this version:

• Fixes a bug for Apache 2.0 servers that caused the edit menu’s “change status” button to reset the priority of selected content items to 0 when the publication status is also set to “no change.”

• Fixes a crashing bug when Big Medium is building a directory and gets bad or inconsistent information about the parent directory status from the server.

• Fixes a bug that caused the legacy site importer to give up when trying to import a site with a homepage or page directory that’s already taken by another site.

After installing

If you’re updating from a previous version... This update contains JavaScript updates that may not take effect until you clear your browser cache. After you install the update, please have all of your organization’s editors follow the browser update instructions.

The download package includes complete installation instructions, including info for upgrading from previous versions of the Big Medium 2 beta. Shortcut instructions for upgrading from 2.0b45 or from 2.0b41, b42, b43 or b44 are provided below. (If you’re upgrading from versions earlier than 2.0b41, please follow the instructions in the download package’s installation guide.)

Upgrading from 2.0b45?

If you’re upgrading from v2.0b45, you can update to the new version by following the instructions below:

1. Set your FTP client to “plain text” or “ASCII” mode.

2. Upload files to moxiebin/Modules

Upload these files to the moxiebin/Modules directory, replacing the old files of the same names:

• BigMed.pm
• BigMed (directory and all contents)

3. Upload to bmadmin/js

Upload this file to the bmadmin/js directory:

• bm-actionmenu.js

4. Run the updater

Browse to the bm-update.cgi file in your site’s moxiebin directory. For example:

http://www.example.com/cgi-bin/moxiebin/bm-update.cgi

5. Ask editors to clear browser cache

Please ask all of your site’s Big Medium editors to follow the browser update instructions.

This completes your upgrade from 2.0b45.

Upgrading from 2.0b41, b42, b43 or b44?

If you’re upgrading from v2.0b41 or later, you can update to the new version by following the instructions below:

1. Set your FTP client to “plain text” or “ASCII” mode.

2. Upload files to moxiebin/Modules

Upload these files to the moxiebin/Modules directory, replacing the old files of the same names:

• BigMed.pm
• BigMed (directory and all contents)

3. Upload files to moxiedata/templates/cp_templates

Upload these files to the moxiedata/templates/cp_templates directory:

• screen_editor_copyxsite.tmpl
• screen_editor_menu.tmpl

4. Upload files to moxiedata/templates/site_templates/HTML

Upload these files to the moxiedata/templates/site_templates/HTML directory. replacing the old files of the same name:

• wi_comments_guts.tmpl
• wi_comments_include.tmpl

5. Upload css and js files to bmadmin

Upload these files to the bmadmin directory:

• css (directory and all contents)
• js (directory and all contents)

6. Set your FTP client to “binary” or “automatic” mode.

7. Upload files to bmadmin/img

Upload these files to the bmadmin/img directory:

• bmcp_change_sec.gif
• bmcp_copy.gif
• bmcp_xsitecopy.gif

8. Run the updater

Browse to the bm-update.cgi file in your site’s moxiebin directory. For example:

http://www.example.com/cgi-bin/moxiebin/bm-update.cgi

9. Ask editors to clear browser cache

Please ask all of your site’s Big Medium editors to follow the browser update instructions.
