Now Available: 9th Beta Edition of Big Medium 2: The Complete Guide, Revised Widget Cheatsheet

Posted Jul 9, 2007

I’ve just updated the Big Medium 2 book and widget cheatsheet to keep them up to date with today’s release of the 2.0b50 update.

Big Medium 2: The Complete Guide is a comprehensive guide for writers, editors, designers and administrators. It runs about 200 pages. The new edition includes these changes:

  • Chapter 1, “Welcome”: Updated the feature list and “what’s new” list.

  • Chapter 3, “Editing Webpages”: Added info about reviewing pages' edit history and one-click editing. Updated entries on page preferences and auto-publishing to reflect minor interface changes to those features.

  • Chapter 7, “Sections and Content Categories”: Updated the screenshot for display properties in the section properties section.

  • Chapter 10, “Widgets”: Updated the <%content%> widget entry; added info about enabling news feeds in the "News Feeds" section; added a new "News Gadgets" section.

  • Appendix C, “Editing Text with the Rich-Text Editor”: Added notes about using the Firefox spellchecker in the rich-text editor.

The widget cheatsheet is a one-page reference for all of Big Medium's widgets. The new edition catches up to the v2.0b50 beta version by adding entries for the following widgets:

  • <%comments%>
  • <%newsgadget%>
  • <%sitemap%>
  • <%tags%>
  • <%tagclouds%>
