Big Medium 2.0b7: "Big Indian"

Posted Sep 1, 2006

Today's "Big Indian" beta update cleans up and removes big-endian byte order marks that had crept into some of the Big Medium module files presenting compilation problems for some server configurations.

Also: We're catching up on our hygeine regimen with some minor typo fixes for the default homepage and page templates, and some tweaks to the "Cup o' Joe" template theme to fix some buggy behavior in Internet Explorer 6.

Download the latest version of Big Medium here.

A Note About Theme Changes

As noted above, this update provides some fixes to the theme style sheet for the "Cup o' Joe" theme. After installing this update, the changes to the theme can be applied to sites using this theme by reapplying the "Cup o' Joe" theme anew. To do this, go to "Layout>New Theme" and click "Apply" under the "Cup o' Joe" theme.

Be aware, though, that this process will also remove any custom templates or style sheet customizations you may have made.

The New Files

If you're upgrading from v2.0b6, you can upgrade by uploading just the following five files and directories from the new version (make sure that your FTP client is set to "plain text" or "ASCII" mode when you upload the files).

  • moxiebin/Modules/BigMed.pm
  • moxiebin/Modules/BigMed (directory)
  • moxiedata/templates/site_templates/HTML/_home.txt
  • moxiedata/templates/site_templates/HTML/_page.txt
  • bmadmin/themes/_general/cup_o_joe/theme.css

The Nitty Gritty

Here's what's new in this update:

  • Normalized all BigMed module files, removing byte order marks, de-tabbing modules and setting all line breaks to Unix format.
  • Added position:relative to two div styles in the "Cup o' Joe" template to prevent Internet Explorer from losing its grip on reality.
  • Removed the bmw_pageContent div from the default homepage template (this div is automatically inserted by the <%content%> widget, so it was doubling up).
  • Fixed typo in default page template, changing class="bmt_PageContent" to class="bmt_pageContent".
