Big Medium v2.0b5: "Respect Your Elders"

Posted Sep 1, 2006

Today's "respect your elders" beta update offers a little help for servers running older versions of Perl (I'm looking at you, Perl 5.6). Download the latest version of Big Medium here.

The New Files

If you're upgrading from v2.0b4, you need to upload only six files from the new version (make sure that your FTP client is set to "plain text" or "ASCII" mode when you upload the files).

  • moxiebin/Modules/BigMed.pm
  • moxiebin/Modules/BigMed/DefaultTmpl.pm
  • moxiebin/Modules/BigMed/App/Web.pm
  • moxiebin/Modules/BigMed/Driver/File.pm
  • moxiebin/Modules/Class/ISA.pm
  • moxiebin/Modules/HTML/Template.pm

Change Log

If you care to know the nitty-gritty details, here's the complete list of changes:

  • Added Class::ISA to the Modules directory to ease installation for pre-5.8 versions of Perl.
  • Fixed a template-parsing bug under Perl 5.6.x in HTML::Template.
  • Removed some non-ascii chacaters from DefaultTmpl.pm, which caused some JavaScript-rendering problems in pre-5.8 versions of Perl.
  • Added Perl version number to crash reports.
  • Added smarter filehandle handling in the File driver.
