Big Medium 2.0b21: "Sorceror's Apprentice"

The "Sorceror's Apprentice" update fixes a bug that prevented installation on servers without Image::Magick installed. The update also adds a new preference to specify the title that appears on the tip summary page and fixes a pair of bugs:

  • Fixed a typo in the default email "from" field.
  • Fixed bug that prevented document icon from appearing with several document types on published sites.

Some Installation Notes

When you have completed uploading your files, browse to the bm-update.cgi file in your site's moxiebin directory. For example:

http://www.example.com/cgi-bin/moxiebin/bm-update.cgi

Upgrading from v2.0b20?

If you're upgrading from v2.0b20, you can upgrade by uploading only the following files and directories listed below.

In the moxiebin/Modules directory (upload in ASCII pr "plain text" mode)

  • BigMed.pm
  • BigMed (directory and all contents)

In the moxiedata/templates/site_templates directory (upload in "automatic" mode)

  • base.css

When you have completed uploading your files, browse to the bm-update.cgi file in your site's moxiebin directory. For example:

http://www.example.com/cgi-bin/moxiebin/bm-update.cgi

Upgrading from v2.0b18 or v2.0b19?

If you're upgrading from v2.0b18 or v2.0b19, you can upgrade by uploading only the following files and directories listed below.

In the moxiedata/templates/site_templates directory (upload in "automatic" mode)

When you have completed uploading your files, browse to the bm-update.cgi file in your site's moxiebin directory. For example:

You should clear your browser cache after updating to this version from any version earlier than v2.0b20:

To clear all cached files in Internet Explorer, go to "Tools>Internet Options," click the "General" tab, and then click the "Delete Files..." button in the "Temporary Internet Files" button.

To clear all cached files in Firefox, click the Privacy tab in Firefox preferences and then click the "Cache" tab. Click the "Clear Cache Now" button.

After clearing your browser's cached files, follow these steps:

  1. Sign into Big Medium.
  2. Click "New Article" to bring up an edit page.
  3. If you are using Internet Explorer, hit CTRL+F5. If you are using Firefox, Camino, Netscape or Flock, hit Shift+CTRL+R (Shift+COMMAND+R for Mac).
  4. Click OK when you're asked if you really want to navigate away from the current page.
