Big Medium 2.0.3

Posted Jul 9, 2008

Big Medium 2.0.3 is now ready for your downloading pleasure, featuring a tasty selection of changes and bug fixes. The update addresses a few lingering compatibility issues with Firefox 3, fixes a nasty bug that caused a small number of Big Medium sites to refuse to open in Internet Explorer, and several other issues.

Go get it

Download the latest version of Big Medium here.

The download package includes complete installation instructions, including notes for upgrading from previous versions of Big Medium.

Shortcut instructions for upgrading from 2.0, 2.0.1 or 2.0.2 are provided below. (If you’re upgrading from a version prior to 2.0, including a Big Medium 2.0 beta version or release candidate, please follow the full installation instructions in the download package; along the way, those instructions include special notes for upgrading.)

The nitty gritty

Changes

  • Added “source” button to short-form rich-text fields to allow toggling between HTML and WYSIWYG views.

  • Added contributors’ IP addresses to comment listings in the “Edit Comments” menus.

  • Added more emphatic warning messages in the confirmation dialogs for section and site deletion.

  • Added .ra as an accepted file extension for Real Audio media types.

  • Extracted JavaScript language file into a separate file, bmadmin/js/bm-lang-en-us.js, for easier language localization.

  • Behind the scenes, Big Medium now knows how to make compressed archive copies of files and directories.

  • Rich-text editor pop-up dialogs now hold their position and are not affected by scrolling.

Bug fixes

  • Fixed bug introduced in v2.0.2 that caused pages to refuse to load (“operation aborted” error) on some Internet Explorer 6/7 browsers for pages containing Flash animations.

  • Fixed bug in Firefox 3 that caused the entire page to scroll when you typed “Enter” in the rich-text editor.

  • Fixed bug that prevented draggable table resizing in the rich-text editor for Firefox 3.

  • Fixed bug that could cause a crash when setting up a new site in Big Medium if the moxiedata/support directory was missing.

  • Fixed bug that caused search-result navigation links to open in new windows if the “new windows” option was selected and the site was in a different domain than the domain where Big Medium is installed.

  • Fixed bug that caused comments to display the date where the time should be displayed in sites where the time format had not yet been selected in the “Settings>Site Properties” screen.

  • Fixed bug that prevented current print/email icon selection from highlighting correctly in the “Detail Pages” HTML preferences screen.

  • Fixed syntax validation problems in podcast feeds.

  • Fixed bug that caused auto-generated homepage titles to have double-escaped ampersands when site names included quotes, ampersands or < > symbols.
