The service plan allows you to update to new versions of Big Medium. It is optional and is necessary only when you activate a new installation or upgrade.
First things first, the service plan is totally optional. You’re not obliged to renew your service plan. When you purchase Big Medium, you can continue to use the current version for free, forever. You don’t have to keep renewing your service plan just to keep the same version on your server.
It is recommend that you stay current with the latest version, of course, but if you prefer not to upgrade, you’re not required to keep your service plan active. You can allow the service plan to lapse and then reactivate it later when you’re ready to upgrade.

In those cases, if your service plan has expired, you’ll be asked to renew the service plan before you can continue. A one-year renewal is $59.
