Question

Why do I get a "Can't locate warnings.pm in @INC" error message when I try to run the setup wizard?

Answer

If you try to run Big Medium on a server running Perl 5.00503 or older, you'll get a long and rather unpleasant message that starts like this:

Software error:
Can't locate warnings.pm in @INC (@INC contains...

Big Medium is written in the Perl programming language, and requires that your server have Perl version 5.6 or later installed. This message indicates that your version of Perl is not recent enough. (See the system requirements page for all of Big Medium's care and feeding instructions.)

Your options are unfortunately limited:

  1. Ask your hosting company to update you to a more recent version of Perl. (It's not an unreasonable request, since Perl 5.6 was released in 2000; older versions were released in the last millennium.)

    or...

  2. Move to a hosting company with a more current version.
