How do I block the display of “one-click editing” links?

Question

Why are edit links displayed on all public pages, even after I click “hide edit links” on the edit strip?

Answer

When working properly, “one-click editing” links should be displayed only to editors who request them. They should not be displayed at all to the general public.

If these links are instead being displayed on all pages and are visible to all visitors, that almost certainly indicates that server-side includes (SSIs) are not enabled on your server, which is one of Big Medium’s server requirements.

To fix this problem, follow these steps to enable server-side includes.
