How do I get rid of Big Medium's built-in CSS navigation styles?

Important: Sales, service, and support of Big Medium are no longer offered. More details.

Question

I want to use my own styles for the navigation. How do I get rid of Big Medium's built-in CSS navigation styles?

Answer

The Navigation panel of Big Medium's HTML preferences allows you to select the style that Big Medium uses for its navigation bars, including the "None" option to remove all styles. If you do this, the navigation will consist of an unstyled <ul> list.

To make this change, select "Settings > HTML Preferences" and click "Navigation."

There are four separate settings that control the navigation styles: "Vertical style" and "Horizontal style" for the navigation widget and again for the subnavigation widget.
