Thirty-Six

I still think of myself as a kid, but the appearance of gray at my temples and the gradual thickening of my waistline seem to say otherwise. Today my personal odometer hits 36, and egad, I’m suddenly on the north side of my thirties. Seems like it was just last week that I was 25...
Having a January birthday is a kind of resolution double whammy. Fresh out of the traditional new year’s introspection, my birthday hits me with another moment for evaluation and to think through where I’ve been and where I’m headed. The good news is that it seems like I’m making good progress in checking off my overall life goals.
I’ve somehow been lucky enough to blunder into:
- A fascinating and sensational wife.
- Great job, working for myself, creating products that help others
to realize their creative goals.
- Cheap, easy access to great wine.
- Engaging set of friends with whom to share the wine.
Still working on:
- Home ownership
- Fame
- Fortune
- Six-pack abs
(Incidentally, I also share my birthday with Big Medium. Today, the genie turns four years old; when Big Medium 2 finally rolls around, he’ll swap in his baby teeth for the real thing.)
