Your service plan gives you free upgrades for Big Medium. Be sure that you're up-to-date before your plan expires, and find out details about how to renew.
When I released Big Medium 2 in December 2007, I gave all registered Big Medium customers a six-month extension to their software service plan, which allows you to upgrade Big Medium. For customers whose service plans had already expired, they got six months free, starting December 17.
That made Big Medium 2 a completely free upgrade for at least six months for every current Big Medium customer.
If you’re one of the folks whose service plan had expired back in December, that six months wraps up on June 18, when your service plan turns into a pumpkin. If you haven’t yet made the leap to Big Medium 2, it’s still a free upgrade for two more weeks. So act now, and download Big Medium to get started.
Never fear. If your service plan expires before you manage to upgrade your Big Medium installation, you can simply renew the service plan for an additional year, for $59.
Here are a few details about the Big Medium service plan and what it means for you.
You’re not obliged to renew your service plan. When you purchase Big Medium, you can use the current version for free, forever. You don’t have to keep renewing just to keep the same version on your server. I recommend that you stay current with the latest version, of course, but if you prefer not to upgrade, you’re not required to keep your service plan active.
The service plan covers upgrades. An active service plan allows you to update Big Medium when new versions become available. When you upgrade to a new version, you’re prompted to activate that version. If your service plan has expired, you’ll be asked to renew the service plan before you can continue. A one-year renewal is $59.
(When you purchase Big Medium, you automatically get a one-year service plan for 12 months of free upgrades.)
If you have not yet upgraded to the latest version of Big Medium and want to do so before your service plan expires, you need to install and activate it before your expiration date.
To register and activate your installation, you should go to “Settings>Register Big Medium” immediately after you install to be sure that you’re all set before your service plan runs out.
To check your service plan’s status and to renew, you’ll need your Big Medium license number and the e-mail address to which it is registered. Sign in here.
If you have misplaced your license number, request a reminder.
You can also find these status and reminder links on the Buy page.
I’m a customer-service fanatic. I want you to have a great experience with my software, and I strive to provide prompt, clear, helpful support for all Big Medium users. You can always expect a plain-spoken, personal response to your email and support-forum questions.
I’m flattered that so many customers have told me that I provide an extraordinary level of support. To me, though, it’s simply the right thing to do at a time when technical support seems to be so universally lousy.
Great customer service takes time, and as they say, time is money. Even if you don’t immediately need an upgrade, you can help underwrite my support efforts by keeping your service plan active. If you’ve found my customer service helpful, I hope you’ll consider renewing.
And thanks! Your purchase supports hand-crafted software and puts bread on the table of an independent developer. It’s much appreciated.
