Spotted, Speared and Wikipedia’d

Posted Jan 15, 2008

Big Medium was speared and spotted by two design-oriented “coolhunting” sites last week: joshspear.com and fairspot.com. As a subscriber of both sites, I’ve found that just reading the two regularly makes me feel far cooler than I actually am. So thanks for that, guys, and thanks especially for including Big Medium in your pantheon of cool.

The write-up at joshspear.com particularly captured what I’m trying to do with Big Medium, with an emphasis on how the software soothes the headaches of designers trying to implement their creative work in a content management system:

Let’s face it, not all web designers were created equal. Some have all of the knowledge they’ll ever need stored conveniently in their big ol’ brain, which transfers easily through their synapses to their fingertips, while others may need a little help in the programming know-how department... and some of us lack all sorts of skillz and need all of the help.

Big Medium, the latest creation in content management systems from Global Moxie is a tool suitable for all groups. The easy to set up program, with a clean, elegant interface bends flexibly to the designer’s vision instead of forcing them to use cookie-cutter layouts. In addition, the software offers lots of grace notes for content sites, pullquotes, image galleries, a WYSIWYG CSS Style editor, making it super easy for clients to update their own sites. So what are you waiting for? Get Big Medium, and try it on for size. It could be just what you were looking for.

And speaking of cool, what’s cooler than Wikipedia? Some kind soul added an entry for Big Medium in the world’s biggest encyclopedia. Among other things, the Wikipedia page notes that Big Medium was released on January 13, 2003. Calendar-savvy readers will quickly calculate that this anniversary was just a few days ago, making the Wikipedia entry a fine gift for Big Medium’s fifth birthday. My baby’s all grown up.
