Several customers wrote in this week to let me know about their freshly launched Big Medium-powered sites. Lots of new sites going up out there. Congrats to all!

Three sites particularly stood out, putting Big Medium’s features to good use within clean and elegant designs.

Rock ’n’ Roll

The Field: thefield.ca

The Field is a Canadian music-video production company representing an eclectic roster of award-winning directors.

Designed by Lorena Barrera and Scott Jordison of Room 101, The Field’s new site sports a bright, whimsical design, cleverly bringing in a hint of nature to call out the company’s brand.

Check it out, and while you’re there, have a peek at the directors’ video clips for bands including Zero 7, The Tragically Hip, Stars, and others.

Faith

Beth Chai: bethchai.org

Big Medium has proven popular with churches, temples, and volunteer-powered non-profits that need an easy way for non-technical staff to update their sites.

Beth Chai is the latest example. Karin Tracy of little b design created the new site for this Jewish congregation in Washington, DC.

The site incorporates a wealth of information, news and events in a clear design infused with an open sense of community.

Books

Boomerang Books Info Bank: boomerangbooks.com/content/

Boomerang Books is an Australian bookseller whose new site demonstrates how well Big Medium can “play nice” with other applications. Big Medium is the engine for Boomerang’s “info bank” of book news and reviews, a complement to the e-commerce system that handles sales.

It’s two separate apps powering one seamless experience within a design that is, appropriately, very readable. The site provides a bright and well-lit place to browse for the next read.
