Up until this month I have been using Big Medium exclusively. I have found a solution for every content managed dream of mine. I am starting a new job soon and they currently are using Wordpress and Drupal. So as any good little coder and new employee I got a couple of books and dove in. The results are surprising. Drupal is amazing. It is also amazingly complicated. I would use this for any large project. Even one or 2 sites I already did with BM (sportspagemagazine.com comes to mind) But Big Medium is still the CMS of choice everything else. All the raves about Wordpress fly over my head. Yes it is a good blogging software. Plug in a theme and go. But as a customized solution to work with any design out there - Big Medium wins hands down. Even with the fast development of opensource BM is still miles ahead as a full easy to use CMS. I have to say good work Josh. I will be showing off your software to my new employer. I do hope they like it. Scott
I do worry what the speed and processor hit drupal is going to give on a large site with lots of page views. I guess I will see this soon.
Hi Scott, Many thanks for the kind words! Drupal is indeed amazing, and you can use it to build pretty much anything you like, though with an appropriately steep learning curve. One of the core developers of Drupal once described it to me as a truckload of LEGO pieces. You can make anything you want with it, but it takes patience and discipline. Great to hear that you find Big Medium working so well with most use cases. It was definitely my intent to make a tool that meets the needs of 80% of sites, with options to extend it where needed. So happy to hear that you've found it work so well for you. Cheers, and good luck in your new position! Josh |
